We think it’s both! These beautifully hand-drawn pieces of art have a great sense of simplicity and minimalism; they convey a strong passion for sharp detail. British designer Michael Angove has collaborated with Ca’Pietra to produce the artwork for all twenty of these distinctive tiles, as part of the Menagerie Ceramic collection.
You really need to see the tiles in real life to appreciate the intricate details of each pattern. The themes vary from vegetables and plants to insects and sea elements. They come with sophisticated names too, like Key Hiding, Jay Feathers, Forget-Me-Knot, Dandy Spoon, Coast String, Bee Spoon… The collection comprises of nineteen patterned tiles and one plain tile. All tiles come in the same 13 x 13cm size and, if laid randomly, can be used to create your own unique kitchen splashback or produce an excellent background for a freestanding bath.
